About the Programme & Service Users :
The Reading Odyssey programme serves children who are vulnerable by their social circumstances or unmet need. (low-income backgrounds, with reading/ learning difficulties, limited access to appropriate learning support and enrichment) Through a guided reading approach, the Reading Odyssey programme builds confidence and ability to read for meaning, knowledge and understanding, and promotes development of cognitive processing skills in children. This movement is powered by interagency collaborations & volunteers and hopes to play a part towards developing independent life-long learners, contributing to their increased well being and meaningful inclusion in society.

Key Responsibilities :
📌 Conduct pre & post-test with children using prescribed tool to gauge children’s literacy level and comprehension ability. 📌 Volunteers will receive comprehensive training in the administration of these tools through a mandatory training session.

Role Requirements:
📌 Minimum Age: 17 years 📌 Interest in psychology or literacy work is a plus - involves administering an informal reading inventory 📌 Commit to at least 8 sessions on weekday evenings or Saturday mornings/afternoons for one year 📌 Attend mandatory training on 4 September 2024, 7-10 pm
Date & Time:
📌 Mandatory training session: 4 September 2024, 7-10 pm. 📌 Assessments will be conducted in centers or communities running the program, located in various parts of Singapore. These will take place on different dates, days, and times. More information will be provided closer to the testing periods, which will be from May to July and November to January.
